BELFAST MISSION Report 2003

First NightOur second engagement was a visit to some senior citizens living in sheltered accomadation. Although I wasn't sure how this would turn out, we had a really great time with about 45 people very responsive and appreciative of our visit. Here I am sharing a brief account of my testimony. John & some of the Band sung some songs & there was some community singing. Again we all really enjoyed our visit especially at the end of the meeting when it was a privilge to pray & talk with some of the residents. |

John Kennett & FriendsOn the Friday evening were booked to appear at The Portstewart Town Hall. Although the attendance was disappointing those who did attend seemed to have a great time and I know that many were blessed including the band & myself. Some local Christians were also invited to share testimony and song. Thanks Alan & 'Toadie'. On the Saturday evening were booked in at St. Patrick's Church of Ireland. Many thanks to them for both the use of the hall & some equipment. Unfortunately a number from the church were away at a youth weekend so the numbers were rather low. |

Sunday evening was our last engagement and we were appearing at Cheers in Ballomoney. Cheers is a Night Club which is run by a group of local churches. It is used during the day as a drop in centre and Sunday evenings for youth services. This was a wonderful climax to our trip as the venue was packed with young & not so young people worshipping the Lord. Great time had by all!! |

Giant's CausewayFor most of the band & Maggie & I it was our first trip to Northern Ireland and we were not disapppointed. The scenary is breath taking, the people we meet were warm and friendly. |

We were privilged to meet many lovely Christian friends of our host Les. Here David is having a 'jamming session' with some band members. David & his wife Linda were very helpful in making our trip a success. |

Worship Leader/Songwriter John Kennett:Some people unkindly call John "The one hit wonder" as his only big claim to fame is his song 'Praise Him onthe Trumpet'. However I can assure you he has written many other songs that deserve as much recognition. |

Band Member: Ross KennettSon of John Kennett has recently taken up the sticks again and bashes out a great beat! |

Band Member: Adam GarnishAdam has recently joined up with the band and is such an asset. He is one of those guys who make us lesser musicians envious! You name it and he can play it! Not only a very gifted musician but very spiritually mature. |

Band Member: RobJust watch him tinkling or thumping the ivories! I ofter wonder if his keyboard will catch on fire! Has been a church organist since an early age but home with any keyboard, including a computer! |

Band Member: JoanOne of the more elequent & graceful members. Also plays a number of instruments and is a music teacher. |

Band Member: PennyJoan's sister (really daughter!) she is one of the bands singers and younger member. |

Band Member: Ben Ben is the quite one of the band. However makes up for it when on lead guitar! |
