Although there is no mention of Paul having visted this area in the Bible we passed through on our journey from Thessalonica to Athens. There are 24 monasteries situated in the surrounding mountains and originally the only method of access was by means of a net hoisted by rope! Surely for such a place to be venerated in this way someone very special must have past by! |
